The Garbage Man doubly awarded at Animafest Zagreb! The most recent film by Laura Gonçalves has just won the Grand Prize and the Audience Award in one of the biggest animation festivals in the world. Still incredulous, but very happy, we leave here the Juri statement that gathers the voices of Igor Grubic , Alex Dudok de Wit, Les Mills , Ana Nedeljkovic and Paul Driessen: “Many things impressed us in this film. The naturalism of the dialogue. The warmth and intimacy of the family setting. But most of all, the tenderness with which it tells its story of generosity in the midst of political and economic hardship in Portugal. And also, the monkey.”
And that’s the premiere of Garrano! At the 50th anniversary Animafest Zagreb Festival, where we met one of the warmest and most knowledgeable audiences of animation cinema. Now, head to Annecy! The biggest animation festival in the world, in the sweet company of the award-winning The Garbage Man!
